Makan-makan: Strawberry Fields Cafe

Best Blogger Tips

Strawberry Fields Cafe is a restaurant situated in Petaling Jaya and Taipan. The one I visited was in Petaling Jaya. It serves Chinese, Thai and Western food.

Lots of different dishes. From western (some said chicken chop is good), chinese and thai. Need to revisit again and again to try all the food there. XD
A variety of drinks. These are just part of it. Probably quarter of the beverage menu.
The ambiance of the restaurant is interesting. The vintage decoration of the restaurant gives you a sight of peace and relaxation. You can see paintings of old rock band, The Beatles with guitars hanging on the wall.

Drinks for the meal. I ordered Lime Barley. Very interesting drink. My friend had a sip of Lime Barley and got shocked. It was sour. Haha. She said literally, the drink is a sour lemonade plus barley in it. She refused to take more of it after the first slurp. I find it pretty interesting that makes you clenching your teeth at the first slurp. After that, i was enjoying the drink. Anyway, it's not really sour. Just nice for those who can take sour drinks.

This round, we ordered sotong(s).
Hot plate sotong. I personally find this dish delicious. It was sotong, mushroom, some chilies, onion in sweet sauce. The menu didnt describe the sauce used in the dish. (I dont really remember the name of the dish.) For sure, it's T53 look out of that.
This is tomyam sotong. Which includes sotong, prawn, fish and mushroom. It was good. My friend loves this one while I preferred the hotplate. The tomyam was not too spicy, just nice. It was a mouth-watering dish which made all of us want more. SLURPS~!
Price: RM10.60

Total: RM40+ (My companion paid for it and refused to reveal the bill)
Anyway, Rachel Says: this restaurant is average.

Makan-makan: Kam Ling: Chicken Curry Bread

Best Blogger Tips
The famous dish of Kampar, the 面包鸡 (literally: Chicken Bread). We were recommended to Kam Ling Restaurant in Kampar old town.

Here's the famous Chicken Bread in Kampar. 2 flavors available, the curry flavour and herbs flavor. We selected the chicken curry bread.
It looks exactly like a big loaf of bread when it was served. The waitress will cut the bread into smaller pieces and the curry is hidden in the bread.

Review: The outer layer of the bread was sweeten but thick and hard while soft in the inside. The chicken curry was not spicy, not at all. It tasted common to me. Nothing special about this dish, although it's famous. I find the bread a little hard. Even Gardenia taste better than this. So, I'll just get some bread and dip into curry at home. I dont think I'll have the dish again. Nothing to shout about. :(

Price: RM22 for small

I find the egg tarts are more interesting than the chicken bread. It's very fresh. The flaky thousand layer tart shell is superb. However, it is not available all the time. It's selling fast. Grab some before it's sold out.

Price: RM1.40 each

Review: I personally think the egg tart tastes better than the chicken bread. The chicken bread wass nothing interesting. The tart shell was flaky , wobbly, crisp while the egg custard is soft. Very good. However, the egg was a little too sweet to my liking. But I still love it.

Jalan-jalan: Sungkai Hot Spring

Best Blogger Tips
A bunch of us had decided to visit the Sungai Klah Hot Spring at Sungkai, Perak.

The journey begun with us travelling from Klang at 8am to Sungkai. It took us less than 2 hours to reach  Sungkai exit. Upon reaching, get yourself tickets to the hotspring at the ticketing counter. It has 2 entrances to the hotspring. One next to the Felda Residence and another a little further inside.
Yeah. We're some funny weird people. Malaysia is already hot and humid but we're getting excited about a HOTspring. That something I call "double boiling" XD

 TRAP: Taman Rekreasi Air Panas
Dont worry. No traps.
Some springs are boiling hot. So, hold the kids tight.

Of course mountain spring are not hot. It's cold. Kids play happily here.

Hotspring's must have snack: Boiled Egg
<

It was superb! Get your eggs at the counter right at the egg boiling spring. It is 5 eggs (raw) for RM2. Some or mostly brought their eggs from home.
Leave the eggs in the nets provided in the egg boiling spring and wait. After 6-7 minutes, hard boiled eggs are ready. I just felt the eggs tasted different from those cooked at home. Hot Spring eggs are more juicy (the egg yoke is not dry, not that it's not cooked), and the white egg is 'bouncy', similar to delicious fishball and it has smooth texture that makes you want more >.<

They also have private pools which they called it family spa. You can enjoy a private gathering with your family at RM75 per hour. Note: Be sure to book in advance. We didnt managed to enjoy it because it was fully booked by others.

Information:

[GPS coordinate: 3.994881,101.392779]

Entrance fees:
Adult RM10
Child RM8

Review: Overall, it was fun. However, we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the springs. It was not cleaned, probably because of the packed visitor each day during school holidays. Other than than, RM10 is worth to every penny.

Makan-makan: Look Out Point @ iCITY

Best Blogger Tips
I had fun at iCITY on xmas eve. It was my first time there since the opening -.-"
Anyway, it was a little disappointing. The lights were not well maintained. Some were off and some with broken parts. Sigh. The sight is just the same. Not much difference. It's the city of lights.
There's some usual sights of iCITY: [not an easy job to snap the lights]

some traditional funfair
Information:
iCITY
D-1-1, Jalan Multimedia 7/AJ,
CityPark, i-City
40000 Shah Alam, Selangor.
[GPS coordinate: 3.068524,101.483116]

Overall: iCITY is a waste of money. It's nothing other than a park with lights. The funfair is making the place more like a pasar malam/bazaar. It was pretty disappointing. The lights were not maintained.

PRESENTING....LOOK OUT POINT @ ICITY
This dinner at Look Out Point was interesting as we were among the first few customers to dine in at the opening of the branch restaurant at iCITY. Woohooo! And even more honored, the boss was there serving us. "Thanks for bringing good food to Shah Alam, Mr Raymond. We love it"
The newly opening branch at iCITY
Mushroom soup was good. Really good. It wasnt those powder mushroom soup. It was thick and tasty.
It was good. Coleslaw was good, vegetable were fresh. Fries were well fried, not oily. It was crispy and soft. The chicken was great too. However, it would be better if they could give more sauce.
The best orange juice I ever tasted. It's fresh orange juice. Taste: Very refreshing, a little sour (just nice), not too sweet. The sweet and sour was perfect. (We ordered more orange juice after the meal because it was so gooooood)

Price for set meal (soup, main course, drink, dessert): RM 26++ (I dont remember the exact amount)
Food was great. We had lamb steak too. It was good. It doesnt have the strong smell of lamb. Not at all.
Here's a business card from Mr Raymond.

[GPS coordinate: 3.065996,101.484489]

Review: The ambiance was dark just like the whole iCITY. The food is good. I'll be back for more~ But was a little disappointed with the speedy service. Anyway, since it was the first day of opening, so it will improve for sure. Besides, I am disappointed with the website provided on the business card. Since it was created, it had been abandoned with no updates.

Rachel Says: GOOD FOOD. will be back for more.

Xmas 2010

Best Blogger Tips
♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ JINGLE BELL, JINGLE BELL, JINGLE BELL ROCK ♪ ♫ ♩ ♬

Let's joy to the world on this festival holiday!!!!
One of many colourful seasons of the year! It's time for christmas! Though we dont celebrate white christmas, the ambiance is just too beautiful!! No snow, no cold weather, no thick sweaters (everyone taking photos in shorts, t-shirts, dress,...)

Let me show u the beautiful deco by a few shopping complexes in Klang Valley.
These are some of the usable photos snapped by me! *I have problems snapping nice, sharp pictures. Btw, i'm using compact camera. :(

1. The Summit, Subang USJ
Theme: Crayon Shin Chan
Shin Chan and some scary cute face snowman
Falling gifts!
I personally love this 'falling gifts' idea. I was so excited to see the soft toys falling hanging high up. :D

2. Sunway Pyramid
Theme: Colourful Castle and a giant snow globe
*sorry, no photo. I'm a failed blogger
Peter Pan the Musical special appearance but the main characters werent there! :(
Peter Pan the Musical sounds nice, as described by many bloggers who was invited to their event. But, the tickets are just too expensive. :'(  More information about Peter Pan the Musical @ Sunway Lagoon, click here.
sorry, no more photos from Sunway Pyramid

3. Suria KLCC
KLCC
Theme: Purple & White
I love the theme colours. White and Purple = special. (The common ones are white and blue) I like this! Anyway, purple is suria klcc's corporate theme colour.
Is it always white&purple for xmas at klcc every year?
*sorry, only one photo. It's too crowded!!!

4. Sungei Wang
Theme: urm....perhaps it's Poinsettia?
A nice stage. Sungei Wang always come up with nice decorations for its stage. However, this time, I guess they are reserving the space for the cheer leading performances the whole December. Catch up cheer leading teams' performance in Sungei Wang. More information for the upcoming cheer leading performances, click here.
I got to watch one of the performance! Wooohoo! But as you can see, I watched it from the 3rd floor(i think so). Haha, I was shopping around the mall and out of the sudden, heard cheers from the main stage. I was hoping for some artists' performance, but a cheer-leading performance is good too. :)
More snapshots of young, energetic and cheerful people. WooHoo!! I'm getting the Christmas anxiety already!
*ENCORE! ENCORE!!

5. Berjaya Times Square
Theme: Gigantic! Big ginger bread house, toys, etc...it's a wonderland!
gigantic ginger bread houses that sell ideal xmas gifts
I love the BIG diamond ring on the gigantic ginger bread house!!! O.O
The Berjaya times square mascot on the stage~
✮❄☃❅♥
Eh? Mr Santa didnt appear in any of these deco. WHERE IS MR SANTA??!!!
Anyway, Ho..ho..ho...Merry Christmas

FOLLOW ME FOR MORE CHRISTMAS UPDATES!

Note for Santa:
Dear Santa,

Xmas 2010 + CNY 2011

Best Blogger Tips
The beauty of Malaysia is when all of us celebrate different festivals together. We celebrate the red during Chinese New Year, green during Hari Raya, purple during Deepavali, the snowy white during Christmas and many other big and small festivals in Malaysia.

Last weekend, I was in Aeon Bukit Tinggi, Klang for some shopping.
Xmas deco @ Aeon Bukit Tinggi
It was exactly 2 months before CNY 2011 (Chinese New Year), the artists started promoting their CNY songs already. While Xmas 2010 is not over yet and I'm still enjoying the Xmas songs, they entered the mall with all the 'ping pang, tong chiang' songs which broke the peaceful xmas. I was totally confused.

CNY banner in front of the Xmas tree
Early CNY celebration! Woooohooo! Tong chiang! Tong chiang! [Eh! Where's the angpow?]
CNY Reunion 178 for CNY 2011
It has been a culture of Malaysian media to release a CNY album in the recent years. Every year, these tv and radio stations will collaborate to come up with CNY songs. It is sad that these songs are only meant for CNY which lasts for less than 1 month especially those songs with chinese zodiac which is exclusive for that particular year. However, consumers continue to buy. When there's demand, there's supply. [Malaysian, please support genuine copies ya. If you think it's expensive, just stay tuned on the tv or radio. :P ]

Oh ya, no photos of the artists who came to promote because......there were lots of people watching and the short Rachel didn't manage to snap pictures. Sorry.

To name some of the artists who came that day:
OneFM: Nicholas 翁书尉 (the only one)
8tv: Gary 叶俊岑, Rickman 謝承偉, Orange 陳慧恬, ...
ntv7: William 辛伟廉, ...
Sorry, I don't know some of them.

Rachel says: Merry Xmas and a happy new year [& Happy CNY, tong chiang!]
